5th Annual
Chatsworth Day of the Horse Celebration

An integral part of the Day of the Horse Celebration is the art safety poster contest. This year the contest took on a new meaning due to the fact that in September 2007, a horse died as a result of injuries sustained from a motor vehicle while it was being led across Variel Street.

This year, the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council Equestrian Committee voted to rename the art safety poster contest to "Ari's Safety Poster Contest" to honor the memory of Ari, the 14-year old Andalusian who died needlessly.

The contest's  theme is “safety around horses.” One of the biggest risks in being around horses occurs when they are frightened

Ari, a 14-yr old Andalusian, and his trainer Jen. Jen was leading Ari across Variel Street when they were both struck by a motor vehicle.
Jen was able to recover from her injuries.
Ari died as a result of his injuries.

The Chatsworth Neighborhood Council Equestrian Committee wishes to thank everyone who submitted a poster.
This year there were over 300 posters submitted for judging!
